  1. 9 players weigh on average 109.  So the 9 players altogether weigh 981lbs.

    Add 1 more person and the total 10 players now average 110.  So now the 10 players altogether weight is 1100.

    Subtract the two totals.  1100 - 981 = 119

    Basic alegbra question: 10(110) - 9 (981)= X

    You need to spend some serious time brushing up on your alegebra for the Sat's.  It will make a big difference for your Math score.

  2. It's not difficult.

    x is the weight of all the 9 players.

    X / 9 = 109

    X = 109 * 9 = 981

    we have total of 981lbs, then another players joins us, X is how much he weighs, and we know the new average, then

    (981 + X) / 10 = 110

    981 plus the new player, divided by 10 players equals the new average of 110.

    then 981 + x = 1100

    then x = 1100 - 981

    x = 119

    good luck!

  3. 9x109

    110x10

    get the difference

  4. total weight of 1st 9 players = 9 x 109 lbs =981 lbs

    total weight of all 10 players = 10 x 110 lbs = 1100 lbs

    --> weight of the 10th player =1100 lbs - 981 lbs = 119 lbs.

  5. first multiply 109x9 to find total weight of original team you should get 981

    than to find out the new team weight you take 110x10 and get 1100 for the weight of the team with the extra player

    Subtract 981 from 1100 and get 119

    new player weights 119lbs
