Need help on a sound system?

i have a 98 dodge ram 1500 extended cab and want to know the best sound system with good subwoofers. what is the smallest that is still loud and yet not going to cost me an arm and a leg. i thought about 10 inch bazookas does anyone have any and how do they sound. any ideas on anything else would be good too.

i do not recomend bazookas, they get loud but the sound is uncontrolled and muddy. for good sound with limited space i would look into a pioneer thiin mount sub, runs about 125-150 and it actually sounds good. and it fits with a mere 4" mounting depth, so under the rear seat is not a problem. as for powwering it a 200 watts RMS amp will do the trick nicely. Look for a slim amp and it will likely fit under the rear seat as well.

this is just one option and the reality is your not going to find a definite answer here you need to get out and take a listen for yourself, music is always full of opinions, and is subjective. find what you like and go for it, and s***w what others think.

back in the days(1988-1993), we used to take the speakers out of the bazooka tubes and put better and more powerful speakers in them. a buddy had a pair of 10" bazookas that we reinstalled with rockford fosgate punch's and used a rockford fosgate punch 150 amp= 300watts max to kick them with. it went into a 87 toyota extra cab, to our surprise it won a few high school sound off contests.

but personally i think bazookas aren't all that great, i'm a MTX guy.

Look into a Kicker L7 8" i had one and it hit harder than the JL 12" subs i had in my truck.  You should be able to find an under seat box for your truck but I'm not sure.  Bazookas suck.  Or if you don't want to spend the money for Kickers look into some Memphis M3 10" subs.  They sound pretty good in a truck.
