i need to know cuba's struggles, their leader and accomplishments. i also need to know when their won independence, plz an kinda of info on cuba would help!! plz help!!!!

The current head of state is President Raul Castro.

The Spanish released control of Cuba in 1898, but the US controlled the country for 4 years, and continued to influence the government for some time after - some would argue that Cuba only became independent in 1959 (and 1961 became subject to the Soviets).
