  1. Next time your @ your local fish store you should look into brine shrimp eggs. You can actually grow your own brine shrimp for food, which can be fun right? They are kinda like sea monkeys! Also goldfish appreciate a good sandy substrate which can be acheived buy buying clean sandbox sand from walmart. & as far as filteration goes the more the better especially with goldfish because they produce more waste than any other fish. So I would just buy a second filter & be strict on your weekly water changes. I do mine 2 times a week but with 2 filters you probally can get away with 1 time a week.

  2. Feeding live brineshrimp can be a lot of work since you'd pretty much have to raise them yourself.

You can get all sorts of live foods at bait shops, if you have any nearby. Many privately owned pet stores that have large fish departments will also sell live food. I've found that my larger goldfish like chopped up bits of earthworms.

If you can't find live food, you can try frozen. Frozen bloodworms are readily available and I think they do carry them at Petsmart.

As for veggies, goldies love fruits and veggies...peas and spinach were always a favorite, and many people claim their goldies LOVE oranges.

As for filtration - you'll want a big tank and an even bigger filter. For my goldfish tanks, I've always gotten filters meant for slightly larger tanks than the one I had. For a 55 gallon tank, a filter meant for a 75.
