  1. Canned dog food or cat food ALWAYS does the trick. Keep him under a lamp that uses a 60-watt lightbulb to keep him warm and when it's "time for bed", keep that bulb over him so that he doesn't get chilly. Whenever you give him a feeding break, take him away from the bulb so that he doesn't get too hot. Also, it would be smart to cover the nest in a napkin or kleenex - he will poo quite a bit and  in about a week you won't like your makeshift nest so well anymore; by keeping the nest covered in disposable material, you can save time from having to rebuild nests and you can just throw the kleenex/napkin away when it gets too dirty. I've raised many orphan chicks fallen out of trees after storms this way.

    Good luck!

  2. You should call RSPCA instead of trying to deal with them yourself.

Then you know they are getting the exact care that they need by trained people.

  3. If these babies are fully feathered..it may be close to them leaving the nest.  This baby bird might be leaving the nest because he is ready to.  Baby birds will leave the nest before they can fly and will just hop around on the ground where the parents will feed them. This is normal..let the bird be if this is happening..it no longer needs help.   You can put the bird into the nest one more time and if he is out again...watch from a distance to see if the parents are still feeding him..they should be. If you are too close they will not come as you would be considered a predator.  You have to watch continually or you could miss the visits as they are sometimes quick.  If the baby bird is almost bald..then it needs to go to a wildlife rehabilitation..it is illegal for you to care for it on your own.  Also, NEVER trim trees or scurbs during the spring time when birds are breeding..as you know..you may accidentally knock down a nest.  If you need a rehab look here:

  4. Normally the parents won't feed a baby bird if there is something physically wrong with it.  It's natures way of culling the sick, injured and malformed.

  5. Force feed it worms the ones that you can by for reptiles. KEEP IT WARM it is very important. If you have a small box of soft warm cloth then it could sleep. (If the mother has not abandoned them. then they
