When I lost my prime on the well pump I took a garden hose and opened the hose bib at the pump and turned on my pool pump, I put the hose in the discharge of the pool pump for about three or four minutes and that worked great.

If you're referring to a above ground well pump, you usually remove the  plug that's usually on top of the pump and fill with water.
