I have known this guy for more than a year now. We text/talk for hours every week or so. I met him at this meeting/conference type thing for a couple of days.

He lives far away and he wants me to come visit him, he is willing to buy the plane ticket which is like 700 bucks and i wouldnt have to buy food or hotel or anything. He is pretty wealthy. But I only met him at that one conference.

I really like him and want to see him again and there is no other chance i have without him visiting me or me visiting him. He cant come and see me because i am in canada and he is in the states. He does not have a passport. I am from the states and have a passport. We cant really met anywhere in between because we live so far away.

Should I go see him? Should he get a passport and come see me? Or not do anything?

  1. A passport is a very convenient document and will become more and more necessary.  Because of this I think he should get a passport and come to see you.  If he really wants to see you again he would have already done so.  Don't be too easy.  Easy is boring!

  2. Something smells funny here.  He may be perfectly legit, however I think he should find a way to come to you, not fly you to him.  Especially since you'd be leaving the United States.

I say he needs to find a way to come and see you if it means that much to him.  Additionally, there are certain precautions anyone should take when meeting someone in person for the first time.  When you leave to go see him in the way he is wanting, you are effectively waiving a lot of the precautions you could take.  Since he'd be paying for the tickets, he can also cancel the ticket to return home.
