  1. Come say hello soon ;-)

Currently live within the northern rivers area,  close on south side of the Queensland and NSW border.

After having lived in all states (except Tasmania)  suggest each state has benefits and disadvantages, bit like rest of the world ;-)

Almost all schools are reasonable, as most obtain some linked funding from Australian Government.

To make better suggestion of what may be nice for you we need know some more of what you like and looking for...

Largest differences are between metropolitan, suburban, and rural lifestyles.

  2. Have you looked into your eligibility for a visa, because they're very hard to come by even if you have an occupation in demand in Australia? Go to http://www.immi.gov.au/ for all information.

If you're able to get PR, public schools are free and private schools are subsidised. Our educational system is good and as long as you keep clear of the very low socio economic areas in the cities, virtually any school will be fine.

Housing prices in Australia are rising rapidly in most areas and are very expensive anywhere in Sydney and most places in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. Adelaide is still affordable, but I guess it will depend on whether you can find work there as their economy isn't doing as well as the other cities.

There are lovely places to live outside the major cities all along the coast and in the near inland but of course, work availability won't be as good there. The best place to choose really comes down to work availability and the type of climate you will be happiest with - we have a very wide variety of climates here ranging from sub-equatorial tropical to cool temperate and everything in between.

Come back to us with some details of the type of climate and lifestyle you prefer and the type of work you'll be looking for and you'll get some more specific answers - it really is a very big place and impossible to generalise about.

  3. Hi NSW has some great places especially the northern rivers areas and in the areas just south of the QLD border. There are many places along the coast some quite expensive and others have high tourist areas. Googel NSW tourism etc or just pick a few areas. From experience having a hospital, a choice of schools are important. A really good way to get your info is to go to the horses mouth. look up this web site for the irish community in NSW, they should be a great help. www.irishaustralia.com/Australian/IrishC...
