I've never done a yardsale before. A friend and I are setting up at her house...her neighborhood is doing a community yard sale, and we have a prime spot, right on the main drag close to the entrance on the right hand side. Here are a few things I want to get rid of:

- a full set of dishes (not too expensive, every day set from Target)...should i try selling as a set, or individually?

- a few wall pictures (again, from Pennys or something)

- picture frames

- books

- DVDs

- Never, or slightly, used Candles (Party Lite, Yankee)

- a floor lamp that still works

- Purses (from dept stores, not designer)

- Pots and Pans

- Kitchen ware (serving dishes, gadgets, etc)

- Suitcases

I think that's most of it. Probalby some other small items too. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also, should i price stuff individually? Or put stuff that i want to price the same together? The least time and effort is the best for me, LOL.

  1. I always price my things pretty low and try to sell things as sets.  Watch out for people to try to take advantage of you by asking you to lower your price on a lot of stuff.  My main thing when I price stuff is "do I really want to re-pack and store this at the end of the day?"

  2. - a full set of dishes (around $20 as set)

    - a few wall pictures (from $3 - $10)

    - picture frames (from $3 - $5)

    - books (from $1 - $5)

    - DVDs (around $5)

    - Never, or slightly, used Candles (around $2)

    - a floor lamp that still works (maybe $10)

    - Purses (around $10)

    - Pots and Pans (from $3 - $5)

    - Kitchen ware (around $5 - $10)

    - Suitcases (around $5 - $10)

Depending on the condition of the stuff.

  3. First and foremost, PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING!!! Don't make it look like the house puked out onto the front yard.

PRICE TO SELL - price everything individually unless you have a box of "anything in this box 25 cents" or "all clothing 1.00".

Try to put stuff together that goes together.. all kitchen stuff in one area, all electronics in another, etc.

Dust stuff off and it will sell better.
