can you help me organize my trip? please.

I'm planning my trip to NYC with my older brother and I want to put all the places I want to visit close by so I don't waste too much time and transportation fares going back and forth.

So this is what I came up... I'm not sure if these places are close to each other or not sad.gif I'm just guessing by their zip code and the number of the street or avenue.

I scanned it

Here's how I put it..

I circled the places as if they're in one area, is it right? Can you like put in order for me if I did anything wrong?

Example: I plan to go to Nintendo World Store and Top of the Rock <- these two are located in the same area (Rockefeller Center) so I circled it.

Statue of Liberty and Staten Island Ferry have the same zip code, I think they're in the same place; so I circled it.

Thanks

  1. You have a great list of places to visit and you did a good job of grouping them. I reviewed the list and sorted by General Area (Upper West Side/Midtown/Downtown) and then by Neighborhood (in Parentheses). I also sorted in descending street order so as you make your way in one direction, for example the items on 5th Ave start at 59th street and work down to 34th Street.

The neighborhoods in the General Areas are close and easily walkable and within the neighborhoods, things are very close, with a 10-15 minute stroll. Items with a *, I added because they are interesting and in the same area.

Everything you have listed on 5th Avenue is within easy walking distance and Madison Ave is one block over. Keep in mind that from 59th and 5th (@ Central Park) to 34th & 5th (Empire State Building), it’s just over one mile so everything in mid-town is pretty close. Be prepared to do a lot of walking.

    Upper West Side

*Strawberry Fields (John Lennon Memorial, Central Park)

*The Dakota (72nd St & Central Park West)

    Lincoln Square Business Improvement District

    Samsung Experience

(Central Park is also accessible from the west side and Columbus Circle)

    Midtown

(Midtown East/5th Ave/Madison Ave) in descending street order from 59th St

Central Park (Grand Army Plaza entrance at 59th & 5th, across from Plaza Hotel)

    Sony Wonderlab

*FAO Schwarz Toy Store (5th Ave & 58th). They still have the life size keyboard from the movie “Big”

    World of Disney

    *St Patrick’s Cathedral (5th Ave & 50th)

    * Radio City Music Hall (6th Ave & 50th) they have a good tour, too

--these next three are all at Rockefeller Centre---

Rockefeller Centre Tour (The NBC Studio tour is here and it’s fun!)

    Top of the Rock

    Nintendo Store

*Grand Central Station- 42nd Street and Park Avenue. Beautiful inside and only a couple of blocks east of Bryant Park. Great view of Chrysler Building as well

    Bryant Park

*Empire State Building (5th Ave & 34th St)

(Times Square) Broadway between 42nd and 50th

    M&M World

    Toys “R” Us

    (Penn Station) 34th Between 7th and 8th

Macy’s, the Worlds Largest Store (34th between 6th and 7th)

    B&H Video (similar to J&R)

    Downtown

    (SoHo)- West side of Manhattan

    Jacque Torres Chocolate

    (Chinatown)- East side of Manhattan

    Better Chinatown

    Chinatown Visitor Info

    (City Hall/Wall Street/Battery Park)

*Brooklyn Bridge (just north of J&R and across from City Hall park)

*City Hall Park (across the street from J&R)

    J&R Music World

*South Street Seaport- Fulton Street and the East River; terrific views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Brookly

    Downtown Alliance

*The Wall Street Bull (Broadway just south of Morris St)- Iconic brass statue of a bull in the middle of Broadway

    Staten Island Ferry

Statue of Liberty (ferry from Castle Clinton in Battery Park required to get there)

*Ellis Island (same ferry to Statue of Liberty goes to Ellis Island too)

Don’t forget to purchase an unlimited Metrocard which will let you ride the subway all day or all week for one set price. That can make moving around NYC even faster and easier. Have a great time in New York.
