Need help redecorating! 10 PTS!!!?

Question

I recently experienced a terrible break up w/ a live-in boyfriend of several years. While moving would have been optimal, it's not financially feasible for me...so, I need to redecorate on a budget. The most important room for me is my bedroom of course. I do not intend to purchase any new furniture because there are only a few pieces, however, the major piece is a 6-drawer painted black dresser drawer with silver round k***s. So, of course, I need to work around this major piece. I want the room to be modern and sleek but not masculine. Does anyone have any ideas of which colors/styles would work nicely with this piece? Pictures are especially helpful. Thanks!

P.S. The carpeting in my apartment is a basic tan color and the walls are an off-white/eggshell color.

i would say to paint at least one wall a color, maybe a dark maroon? or whatever other color you like! also maybe find a cheep new bed spread, it will make the room look way different.  you could also get new curtains, good luck =)

just to add my opinion red and black is very dark and a little goth or even if you added white too it makes look a little dinerish (and those are ok if that is the style that you want) But black can go with so many styles.  If you want curtains u can get just plan white bed sheets (the cheapest) and dye them what ever color you want!  When we first started out I did that for my kids curtains and I Tye-dyed them and they looked great.  Dollar Store has some neat pics and trinkets even vases that look ok

I would go with a tan, camel or even sage green to counter act the black

Your bed room is your palace and sanctuary u want to feel comfortable and safe in there.

Keep in mind u could also repaint the dresser and places like Home depot and Menard's have s***w-up paints for very cheap and a lot of times they have some neat colors that other people just didn't quite like

As for your bed spread all u can really do there is just watch for sales.

throw a few candles around too and that can help with decoration and is cheap

Personally my favorite colours are black and silver, you could try removing the silver k***s and putting on crystal k***s and putting up a chandelier type light fitting, like these

then a white satin bed covering (doona cover, or comforter or whatever) this one is again a bit over the top, but gives you a rough idea of what I mean

accessorise with silver or glass candle holders, dressing table accessories and mirrors (if your bedside tables are black too, a piece of mirror cut to size is fantastic with the crystal k***s and a lamp on it reflects light onto the mirror and back up again, looks gorgeous) and a silver framed mirror on the wall like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produc... or framed pictures to fill out the walls.

lastly maybe an area rug in a plush white, and floor length silk looking drapes (not glossy satin though that would be way too much), yummy, sort of hollywood glam.

Now it sounds like all that crystal and the chandelier would look way over the top but this is what i am basing it on and without the chandelier, white satin comforter and crystal k***s it would look masculine-ish http://www.hgtv.ca/homeheist/Galleries/g...

Paint yourself a picture and frame it.  Just because it's not professional doesn't mean that it's terrible.  My mother in law, just redecorated her room under 40.oo and it looks superb.  She bought tooling (the fabric, I don't know the spelling) that's like 3.oo a yard, and dowel rods, and hung them over her bed like those peir one thingies. http://www.nicamaka.net/images/SiamBedNe...   Buy them to match the room.   She bought alot of stuff off of ebay as well.  Such as old fruit crates, that she uses as shelves, and shoves melting waxes in them.

http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ This is a color that I think would look great with tan carpet and I believe that it's not too bright but it is something different. Also I think it would look good with a black dresser, I would also suggest a purple color. Hope that helps!

Bright red would add a real class to the room but if you are looking to make it more feminine add a bright pink.  Since the colors of the room are black and tan a real bold color will add the real splash to the room.  If you are a person that dislikes these bold colors than try a lighter blue and deep brown to give the room elegance.  If you can rearrange the furniture so the room feels different.
