Need help remembering a book title...?

Question

I read a book years ago but can't recall the title or author,I'd love to read it again though. Can only remember a few plot details...

Man driving down a highway...he realises he keeps passing the same landmarks (I think) and/or the highway is endless. He keeps driving and I think the setting sun is significant, also something about fires and dead/empty cars. I think he hooks up with a girl and night falls but can't remember anything else.

Can anyone help please?

I also have a book that I cannot recall the title to.

Try thinking more about the details.  Start where you left off.  What happens next?  Are there any other people in the story?  What does he and the girl do?

If you can come up with a bit more detail, then more people might be able to help you.
