Need help removing shaft drive motorcylcle tire.?

I have a 1983 Yamaha 650 Maxim and need to know how I disconnect the shaft to remove the wheel from the frame.

I'm not familiar with that exact model but every other shafty I know of You unbolt the Brake calipers, remove the axle nut and knock out the axle and the wheel comes loose from the Drive spline assy. Removing the shaft is not necessary.

you don't remove the shaft to pull the wheel .Just remove the axil and spacer and the wheel slips out
