Question:

Need help setting up a complex connection?

I don't know how complex this really is, but I have no idea how to do it. Here's what I need to do:

1. Be able to connect my 360 and PS3 to the same monitor as my PC. Preferably it would be nice if I could keep em connected all at the same time. How would I do this?

2. Would it be possible to connect my 360 and PS3 to the same speakers as my PC or would I have to buy a set of speakers just for my consoles?

If theres anything you need to know to be able to help me further then please feel free to ask. Thanks in advance!!!

  1. I would need to know what monitor you are using to answer this, but you will definitely need a switching device for this to work if you want to avoid switching cables back and forth.  If your monitor supports DVI or HDMI, then you can get a switcher to route the PC/Xbox/PS3 to the monitor.  If it only supports VGA, then you will need the component cables for each game console and you will need a switcher with some transcoding capabilities.  Here are some links to devices that would work in either case:

    HDMI Switcher:

I am using a previous version of the Iscan in my home and have box and Xbox and a PS3 routed to an older plasma that has only a VGA input and it looks amazing, the plasma looked terible with standards sources but with the 1080 signal that the consoles put out it looks great!

For the audio, you may need a separte switcher.  Again if you are able to use HDMI, this is much easier, as the audio signal will carry on that cable, then you should be able to hookup the speakers to the monitor and get the sound from all sources(providing and audio connection between the pc and monitor).  Audio switchers are pretty inexpensive, you can get a manual switcher from radioshack or even EB games for $20
