Need help setting up linksys router to charter cable internet modem?

Question

Currently I'm connected via my laptop and an ethernet cord plugged directly into the modem. What's the next step? I've tried goggling it but everytime i go through all the steps listed it never ends up working...sooo frustrating.

you need to download the manual for this specific linksys router & configure it, each router has a different procedure in configuration, you missing something in the procedure... or try to return it to factory defaults by pressing the reset button .........

I'd open a browser and attempt to go to:

http://192.168.1.1

This is assuming linksys has port 80 open to configure its settings. The default router credentials for linksys routers are:

User: admin

Pass: admin
