  2. Not really sure I understand what you are trying to do??  How do you get a connection now. Wireless but from where? Do you have a physical connection somewhere or are you picking up a signal somewhere else.  What do you need the netgear router for??

  3. What kind of wireless internet?  Is it a wireless internet service with an antenna & a box?  Then the box for your internet service should have an ethernet port on it that you'll just plug into the 'WAN' or 'Internet' port on the router.

Or are you just using a (802.11b/g) wireless connection from somewhere else and connecting to it with your wireless card in your computer?  If so, you will have to setup your router as a client to that wireless network.  Look at your router setup, and see if it has a setting for either 'client' or 'client bridge'; either will work.  Client bridge should be easier to setup.  Client makes a seperate network using different IP addresses, where client bridge keeps it all in the same network and uses the same DHCP server (where you get an IP address).

  4. Without the Net gear router model number and whether it is just a router or a wireless router, it would be a little hard to explain how to set it up.

The best way is to talk with your internet service provider and normally they will walk you through the process.

  5. 1)Internet Connection- you have to sign up for a service somewhere to get the internet. Cable internet is the fastest and now is the most affordable. Contact your cable company and they normally throw in the modem free with the service.

    2) Router- This goes between your computer and the modem. Normally your computer simply hooks up to the modem and you access the internet but in your case you are going to use the Net Gear router because you want to have more than one computer using that internet service than just one computer.

    3) Your computer plugs into the router

    4) Your router plugs into the modem

    5) The modem plugs into the wall for the internet connection.

  6. firstly, wireless internet means u can connect wirelessly ( no cable needed) from your laptop/computer to the internet. u can do this by connect your modem to a router, or if your router has a built in modem, then it would be fine. after setting up your modem and router, u can now connect wirelessly
