As it says.. I'm really trying to do my homework here and these two silly questions are completely flying over my brain. Please help on one or both [that would be amazing] and try to explain so I can figure out where I keep failing D:

solve (x^(4)-1)/X^(3)=0

simplify (x^(3)+27)/(x+3)

  1. (X^4  -  1 ) / X^ 3  = 0

    X^ 4- 1  =  0     if  X != 0

    (X^2)^ 2 -  1  = 0     using a^2  - b^2  = (a+b)(a-b)

    (X^2  - 1)  (X^2+1)  =0

    (X-1)  (X+1)(X^2+1)  = 0

    so  x = 1, x = -1  and if imanginary num is to be included then

       x  = i  and x = -i

    X^3+  27   = X^3  +  3^3      using   a^3+b^3  = (a+b)(a^2+ab+b^2)

    we get

        (x+3) ( x^2+ 3x+9)  / (x+3)

        =  (x^2+3x+9)
