Question:

Need help to concentrate reading

I'm trying to finish getting my High school diploma, but when the assignments require me to do large amounts of reading I can't concentrate. I have ADD and Schizophrenia, I am taking pills for these, but I still have problems with the voices and they taunt me while I try to read and I start thinking about other things to make them stop, but then everything I read I can't remember. Is there a way I can make it easier, or just help me concentrate more?

I do go into the doctors every month, but my medication doesn’t fully work and I really don’t want to go on a new medication because when I have to take new med, it messes me up really bad for several months before it even starts to work.

  1. You could try reading aloud (softly) or reading aloud while pacing and listening to nice music to try to crowd out the voices to some extent. You could also try reading aloud the important stuff into a voice recorder and playing it back.

  2. try breaking it up, not reading all of it at once.

  3. read short passages little and often and try making some notes along the way, hope it goes well for you good luck
