Need help to connect my ipod in car?

Hi,

I have an ipod nano, I want to know whether an ipod can play music simultaneously while charging in car. Is that advisable to do? If so when I turn on the car the ipod should automatically turn on and if I turn of the car it should automatically turn off meanwhile charging should be done automatically.

Kindly tell me how to do this and the necessary components with the exact voltage/current ratings.

  1. It's perfectly fine to charge your ipod while playing it. As to the other part, I don't think there are any components out there that exactly match your requests (i.e automatic turn on and off), but the standard cigarette lighter-ipod converter (apple and pretty much any store like Best Buy or even Target sell one) should cover the charging end. As for the music part, you have two options: Either an ipod/cd player-cassette converter or an ipod/radio converter like the Griffin iTrip. The cassette has the advantages of being cheaper, more reliable and no interference from other sources, while the iTrip is more portable (though it would take up the ipod dock that you want to use for charging). Again, you can find these products all over, whether online or at many stores. Good Luck!

  2. There are many CD players that can do everything you're looking for and more. Just search Crutchfield for receivers that have iPod playback.
