We live in south Texas . The snake was small around but about 3 ft long. There were no other colors or markings than what I described. I have young children always outside. Want to make sure this is not harmful.

  1. There's only one venomous banded snake in the U.S. coral snakes have red black and yellow banding. Not sure what you've got, but it's not a coral.

You might want to invest in a field guide for your local snakes, teach the kids which snakes to look out and not mess with when they're outside.

  2. its a water snake or a rat snake nether harmful if your child was to get bitin it would only swell up a bit thats all hope this helps
