  1. Call them, or write:

    Standesamt Würzburg

    Karmelitenstr. 20

    97070 Würzburg

    +49 931 373411

Instead of the "+" sign, use the number for international calls you have in your country. 49 is the country code for Germany, 931 is the area code, and the rest is the phone number.

Letters (air mail) take three to four working days from the United States to Germany. To speed things up, if you choose to write a letter, include your email address.

Mind the timeshift, and check out German time before calling. Working hours are 9-12 and 13-17 CEST (Central European Summer Time), that's UTC/GMT +1.

  2. That is normaly the job of the german consul in your country.

    Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

    Heinz

  3. get in contact with your family over there. they could take the STAMMBUCH to the local authorities which then will issue a duplicate which would have to be send to you .

are you a german national ? if not then ignore my answer as it may become incorrect

  4. You have to contact the "Standesamt" of the city of Würzburg, NOT the Einwohnermeldeamt. If you call there, just tell them that they are your so-called "Geburtsstandesamt" and explain your situation. The Website of the Standesamt Würzburg is:

    http://www.wuerzburg.de/de/jugend-famili...

or call the Standesamt Würzburg on +49 931 37  2415 for birth certificates.

and you can also send an Email to:

    geburten@stadt.wuerzburg.de

btw: "birth certificate" means "Geburtsurkunde" in German

  5. Go the the website of the German Embassy in Washington DC. Click on the Consular section. There you will find the directions on how to obtain your birth-certificate from Germany.

  6. I guess you mean Würzburg. You have to contact the 'Einwohnermeldeamt' (registration office) of Würzburg:

    http://www.meldebox.de/Einwohnermeldeamt...

    Don't worry they understand English!
