Need help w/car starter?

Question

I just bought a car and it came with a remote starter installed, the starter is a Pursuit PROOE4BS....(it has 4 buttons) I'm just not sure how to actualy start the car with it, when i try holding down on the button with the pic of the key/trunk the car turned half on(meaning the the electronics were on) after holding the button down further the engine began to start but it was making a cranking sound and didn't start(it sounded like a car who's battery was dead). So my question is, am i doing something wrong or is just a faulty starter

The starter solenoid could be bad or the starter wires from the alarm could have bad connections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has nothing to do with the key pad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
