the city university of new york (cuny) is pleased to inform you that you have been awarded the financial aid listed below for the 2008-2009 academic year. the college listed on top of this letter is the first cuny college listed on your fafsa unless you have been admitted to a cuny college and confirmed your intent to enroll. this financial aid reward letter in not guarantee of admission to that college.

most finanical aid programs including subsidized federal direct stafford loans are available based on financial need. your financial aid award is based on the following information

cost of education$20,032 - estimated family contribution$1,036 = need$18,996

federal pell -- fall 1840.50 summer 1840.50 yearly 3681.00

tap fall 2000.00 summer 2000.00 yearly 2000.00

  1. thats how much money you'll receive

  2. It means if you are going to be going to college in the fall you will probably have 1840.50+2000.00= $3,840.50 to help pay for your tuition and fees and books for that semester.

Plus you are being offered a "Work Study" job to help you earn up to this amount for the year.  Work study is just like a real job, you have to find one on campus, convince them to hire you and you get a paycheck just like a real job after you earn the money.

Usually these letters require some sort of "Response" from you.  Stating you want to accept this financial aid.  Whatever they want you to do... be sure you follow through with it so you can get this money.

Also, if your tuition and fees and books will be more than 3840.50 be prepared to fork over some cash.

  3. from my understanding although these can be confusing sometimes..dependent upon your acceptance to the university this is the amount of money you will recieve so....yearly your federal pell grant or your(free money) will be 3,681 dollars Im not sure what the tap fall is we don't have that at my school  and your federal work study is if you get a job on campus which ur university should offer thats the amount that the government will pay towards your tuition for working....
