I have two 2 ohm Lanzar opti1232d subwoofers @ 750 RMS DVC and a 1 x 4000 Watts Max at 4 Ohms Bridged lanzar high mosftet 2 channel 2 ohm stereo stable amp @ 1000 RMS.

Right now i have it bridged with a jumper going to a + from a - between the subwoofers, i had two voltmeters and cant find them for an ohm impedance reading. When i turn it up my amp goes into protect mode, this should give me a 4 ohm impedance, i dont know whats wrong? Any help?

  1. Try it like this?

  2. first of all u shouldnt have to bridge that amp (bridging is bad) since the subs are dvc i would wire the subs for 2ohm load and run it in stereo u shouldnt have to use a jumper.

  3. If you have a 2-channel amp that's "2-ohm stereo stable", then that usually means it's only stable for a minimum of 4 ohms in bridged mode.

When you have a pair of subs with dual 2-ohm voice coils, you're not going to end up with a 4-ohm load.  If you wire the voice coils in parallel on each sub, then wire the subs to the amp in parallel, you end up with a 1/2-ohm load.  If you wire the voice coils in series, then wire the two subs to the amp in parallel, you end up with a 2-ohm load.  If you wire the voice coils in series, then wire the subs to the amp in series, then you end up with an 8-ohm load.

From your description, it sounds like the amp is connected to a 2-ohm load.  That's too low for your bridged amp.

  4. try parallel  instead of series
