Need help with 1080p televisions!?

I just bought a 1080p rca lcd tv, its suppose to be good but after fixing all the color settings and stuff, it looks like c**p, the quality of the tv sucks, picture is blocky and foggy, is there something i am doing wrong or is the tv just crappy? I tried watching cable and played a dvd but the picture is just not good!!!!!

There is probably nothing wrong with the TV, but something is wrong with your sources.  It sounds like you are watching analog.  For your DVD player--you should use component cables (red/blue/green) or HDMI if the DVD  player has it.  If you are using composite (yellow plug), nothing you do will get you a good picture.  This also applies to the cable box; use component or HDMI.  If it doesn't have these, that is not a digital box.  If it is not a digital box, then at least use the s-video connection.  (The same applies to the DVD player, but even s-video will not give as good a picture as you would like.)

But until you feed your TV with decent source material, the set merely magnifies the defects in the analog pictures.

You do not need blu-ray, or even HDTV from cable to get good pictures; ordinary DVDs can look quite good on your set if you have a decent DVD player.  However, you will get the best results from HD sources, both cable and DVD.

you need an hddvd or bluray player and the corresponding format movies. also you need to get HD channels to get the full experience out of your HDTV.

regular cable and DVD movies usually look worse on an HDTV than on an old one.

don't worry, its not your TV. you just need to fork out more cash for better stuff and channels. Ask you cable provider and they should help you
