Need help with 1984 essay.?

I need to write a higher personal study essay on 1984 by george orwell and im thinking about writing on the theme of dangers of a totalitarian government. Can anyone suggest good techniques to comment on? and can you give an example?

If you're writing it on the dangers of a totalitarian govt what do you mean that you need 'good techniques to comment on' ?

Also, instead of writing it on the theme "Dangers of a totalitarian govt" I would think to look at it more as socialism.

In the book, everyone has the same thing. No one is really better off then the next, and to maintain order in society where no matter what you do or how great you are you have the same as your neighbor the person in charge must control everything is society since one little change can alter everything.

I'm not sure what grade level you're at. If it's not above your head, take a look at Hayeks ' The Road to Surfdom' I read it in college and the prof had to go back to 1984 to show us what a true socialist society is like. Hayek will explain why 1984 is socialism.

you could say it encourages groups to go against the government, i forget what the guy is called in the book, but there's that person everybody hates? i think you know what i'm talking about
