Need help with Boxing training!?

When I hit my punching bag with my hands wrapped and with bag gloves on, my right hands middle knuckle takes a pretty big beating. It doesnt happen to my left and I hit almost with the same power on both. I don't know how to prevent this from happening and its preventing my training because my knuckle is swolen and takes a week to feel any better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. use pre-wrap, hand wraps, knuckle pad, tape

I think that is the right order but check with your trainer. also you need to focus on turning your hand over all the way so you are hitting with the two knuckles closest to the thumb. if you are getting soar hands you need to train them to get stronger which will happen over time as you continue to box. i would also suggest you speak to your Doctor about what you can do to strengthen your bones in your hands

  2. Don,t start off hitting the bag so hard give your hands time to get use to the pounding .I would like to know what kind of gloves you are using and this is not a big thing but how are you wrapping your hands

  3. This is good advice below.  However just to make it clear the reason for wrapping your hands is for your safety, and to prevent any breaks.  Your hands have hundreds of bones in them -- all of them easy to break.  It doesn't matter how many times a week you train, but each time that you ARE training you need to be taking the time to wrap (properly) and tape (properly).  This is not just some sort of strange and unnecessary boxing 'ritual'.  Proper wrapping and taping is for your safety.
