well i recently got a new computer. now i still have songs in my ipod shuffle, and i recently just added some songs on my computer..but for some reason, i have to erase one or the other..

this thing keeps on popping up on my itunes "the ipod shuffle is synced with another Itunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync it with this itunes library?"

i dont want to erase all the songs in my ipod..i just want to add songs to it! and for some reason, everytime i plug my ipod into my new computer, itunes doesnt show that i have a device. like it doesnt show the "DEVICE" word on the left hand side.

so how can i add songs without erasing the ones in my ipod?

  1. If your songs were purchased from iTunes you can go to the file menu in iTunes and choose "Transfer songs from <iPod name>"

If you have songs that weren't purchased from iTunes you'll need to download extra software which can be found for free.

There is a good tutorial, and a download link on the Apple Mentor web site:

  2. sorry to say you cant

you need to erase the old one to add new ones, that is the only way

i had to go through this too and i know how much it sucks

    good luck

  3. yup you will loose it all... you need to copy all non i tune purchased music and transfer it over by disc, external hard drive and then you shoot a e mail to i tunes and they will let you re down load it to your new computer... then you have to re sync it all.. I know it sucks..

  4. i Have an iPod nano video. i just set it on manual and i can get songs from any of my friends. you just plug it in and drag and drop songs. it really easy.
