I am 19 and just out of high school going into college. In the beginning of the summer I got a letter in the mail for jury duty. My parents were out of town and I figured I would be able to do it. When my parents got home I found out that my dad had already planned and booked a vacation for us when my jury duty was supposed to be. I talked to the judge and he let me out of jury duty for that time. Now I got another letter in the mail saying I am asigned for jury duty again this time with the judges signiture in pen. I cannot do that either because the day it starts is when my classes in college start. I sent a letter in to the judge 2 weeks ago and nothing has come back in the mail. Will I be excused again?

  1. Yes

  2. Probably but just in case, contact the college and explain your situation. They may be able to offer some guidance based on past experience.

  3. If you are starting Classes that day and you have written to Clerk of the court he should reply. You can also call the clerk of the courts office and ask for this information. I see no reason why you cant be deferred.
