Question:

Need help with Samurai swords?

The blades are getting quite loose, anyway i can remove the handle and secure the blade?

(Only have pretty basic tools)

  1. A real Katana (and even some cheaper ones) have a pin called a Menuki.  It is usually wood, and hammered through the tang of the blade.  Get a small peg or similar object, and use a hammer to knock out the Menuki (GENTLY).  Note that some Katanas have two Menuki  I do not know what your sword looks like, I have based my instruction on the traditional Katana.  If, however, you do not have a Katana with Menuki, and the handle is of solid construction (in the case of one of my Katanas), then you may be out of luck.


  2. Is it real or a rep?  Reps usually have a nut at the top which comes loose, you have to remove the tsuba in orfer to fix it.  Not sure about real blades.
