Also I need to know how the decline of the Silk Road affected Europe.

decline coincided with opening of sea route to asia.  empires built by genghiz khan etc r all living in the lap of luxury and hence started to decline.  politics shifted from conquest to settlement - stay put and enjoy life in fertile valleys.
