Need help with The Sims 2 & Computer Spec.?

Question

I would like to play the Sims 2 game on my computer without running & loading slow. Since my computer is rather old I am going to buy a whole new one and would like to know what computer I should get that can play The Sims 2 and its expansion packs. I'm computer-illiterate so please dumb down your answer if your going to include specs.

Here are the system requirements for playing the latest expansion packs (Freetime and Apartment Life) which you might want to take along to the store when purchasing your new computer.    

    

* CPU: 2.0 GHz or faster

* RAM: 1024 MB or more

Supported Graphics Cards:

* ATI Radeon(TM) series (8500 or better)

    9600, 9700, 9800

    X300, X600, x700, X800, x850

    X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950

* NVIDIA GeForce series (GeForce2 GTS and better)

    GeForce 6200, 6600, 6800

    GeForce 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950

They are much higher than the requirements for the base game only, but if you are going to spend all that money on a new computer you probably would want to make sure it can play the Sims 2 and all the expansions, and possibly Sims 3 as well.

it really depends on how much money you want to spend.  But any new computer from walmart, or an electronics store like best buy should run the sims 2 with out any issues.  If you are really interested in the specs take the sims 2 box with you when you go computer shoping and ask an employee to make sure the computer your looking at meets the recommended requirements.
