  1. Using (x^a)^b = x^(a * b), the numerator becomes 256x^(21 / 4).

    Using (x^a) / (x^b) = x^(a - b), the whole fraction becomes:

    256x^(21 / 4 - 1 / 4)

    = 256x^(20 / 4)

    = 256x^5.
