Need help with a blackberry pearl 8100?

Not my phone, but I am trying to fix it. Every time I try to open the email messages, or the text messages it highlights every message and so I cannot open one of them. This happened before, and I thought I just pushed a button on the side of the phone, but if that's what worked before it's not working now. I cannot seem to find the information in the blackberry user guide. Thanks for the help.

I am not sure of the method worked for you, however, when that happens to my BB, I usually take the battery out and leave it off for a few minutes.

Then put it back on and power it up, it works.
