Question:

Need help with a bridal shower gift

I have a bridal shower to go to this weekend, but everything at a reasonable price on her registries has been purchased. I want to get her something fun and creative. Anyone have any suggestions. Should I just go beyond my budget to get her something on her registry or find an alternative that she didn't ask for?

**If you have any suggestions on a gift I could get her that would be helpful as well.

  1. one of my favorite gifts was an address book with the givers address written in.  It had some pretty stationary and a whole bunch of stamps.  Knowing the cost of postage, I thought it was a tremendous gift.  Then perhaps the other shower guests could also fill in their info...

another thing I am still using is my cookbook... pick a good no nonsense one and she will be thanking you for years!

  2. We just had a bridal shower for my niece yesterday.  All the guests (including me) except for my daughter got her something from the registries.  My daughter remembers back when she got married and her favorite gift was a laundry basket filled with all kinds of cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and fabric softener, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.  She said it was so wonderful to get back from her honeymoon and not have to worry about going to the store to get stuff so she could wash her clothes.  And that's what she got for her cousin, my niece -- I may copy that idea at the next shower I attend.

  3. if u get her a gift card make sure it has sumthing pretty on it. i kept one that had wedding bands on it that had inscribed forever, from walmart. congratulate her bunches.

  4. Don't spend beyond your budget. From experience managing a small house, I can tell you that all new couples need dish towels. Not the fancy "company" kind, not terry cloth, but the sensible Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrell kind. Get a few of those in neutral or inoffensive (white with navy blue stripes is classic) colors. She might not realize during the shower that you gave the best gift, but in three years she will appreciate your thoughfulness. The oversized martini glasses will be in the landfill, and she'll be using those cotton towels in her kitchen.

  5. How about a gift card to where her registry is and then get her a scrapbook kit. Target has a great one for Honeymoons, which is better than one for the wedding I think since she will receive so many albums and frames for that.

  6. i would buy her something she didn't ask for, u never know if in her registry they didnt have that.besides u have to give her something for the wedding so dont spend too much in the bridal shower. have fun, i had fun in my friends bridal shower.

  7. well gift cards are always appreciated. one thing i always get my friends (when they get married) is a journal from barnes and noble. they have a huge selection. writing is a wonderful way to vent your frustrations so you dont take it out on your hubby. it allows you to express yourself anyway you please and get things off your chest. this makes for a healthy person and better wife that isnt all stressed!

  8. Maybe do a "Practical Gift Basket".

    - Dish Soap

    - Sponges

    - Laundry soap

    - Sweeper

    - Groom

    - Dust Pan

    - Windex

    - Paper Towels

    - Clorox Cleaning Wipes

I think you get the idea :-P

    They are so handy!

  9. Stick to your budget, you don't ever have to buy from the registry.

I just saw this the other day, and it would be a perfect shower gift - if it's in your price range -

  10. Just get her a gift card to where she registered.

  11. if you pay the lil extra for shipping, these are definitely worth it!

    www.lolitawineglasses.com

they are hand painted wine glasses....im getting them for my bridesmaids...

  12. This is what I do. I get together with two or three of my friends and we put together money to get a more expensive gift on the registry for her. Its fun to be able to buy an expensive gift without spending alot of money!! =)

  13. dont go over your budget!!!

find something else like a perfume she likes, vouchers, i know they are not great ideas im not good at this but dont go over your budget

  14. Get her baby-to-be a expensive rattle. That can always please and it will show that you are to congratulate them, and the baby, not to party. Good luck!
