‘’Do you know what knowledge is? When you know something, recognize that you know it, and when you don’t know something, recognize that you don’t know it, that’s knowledge.’’ what does this quote mean to you or what does it mean.

  1. It is a simple quote. It means exactly what it says. I suggest you read it again slowly and meditate on it. It will eventually sink in.


  2. On the face of it, this quotation seems simple enough to understand. However, it has a deep hidden meaning. In truth we know nothing about the reality of things.

    A tree is standing in front of us, do we know the spirit of the tree to say that we truly know the tree? In fact do we know anything about it at all ? What its feeling ?

    Socrates says, ' All that I know is that I know nothing.' To recognise this fact , that I truly am ignorant , and that I know absolutely nothing is the beginning of true wisdom and knowledge.
