Need help with a do it yourself solution?

A friend would like to detox self of methadone because he does not have ins. for program. He is on 40mg and from asking around, that is not such a high dose to worry. Please just help. Thanks

  1. your friend will need professional advice for this,as well as support and couselling,40mg is not too high a dose but if its reduced suddenly or stopped without medical advice he could easily backslide!make sure he eats healthy food,friut veg etc,methadone is just as addictive as heroin,so hes gona be in for the long haul and it aint gonna be a picnic!be there for him!why not try some herbal detox from herbalist centre?this may help flush system,good luck!and respect to your friend for wanting to detox!


  2. Yes, this person will want to be under the supervision of a counselor or a physician while undergoing this process.

    He may wish to contact the department of social services or department of mental health in his community to see if there is subsidized treatment available in place on insurance. That is nothing to mess around with.

  3. um, if he is attending a methadone clinic, they will slowly detox him of it if he asks it of them, simply by lowering his dose by 2mg weekly. That is how it is at the methadone clinic in my area.
