Hi I am a student and am looking to buy a laptop next week. I will be using it as my main computer at home so will have to be pretty good. I am really just looking for opinions on the best in my price range or for any links to good cheap laptop sites. I live in the UK and want to spend about £300 at most.

Thanks for helping me out.

  4. there are only 2 really good reliable brands, Toshiba & sony. go for the one that fits your budget and has biggest ram, 40 plus gig hard drive and wi fi.

  5. pop down to pc word mate

  6. If your looking for a windows based laptop, then go with LENOVO.  Their Think Pads are great for school.  They are a bit more pricey then most budget line models, like Compaq.  Its a great investment!!!

  7. tesco do some really good deals on computer and cheap as well

  8. You are unlikely to get anything too special for £300. However, you can get a reasonable one for that cost although they tend to be a bit cheap in quality.

If you want good speed, go for a Dual Core Processor, 2 GB of RAM (1 GB is adequate), at least 80 GB of Disk Space (120 GB + better).

You won't find a good graphics card with anythin laptop that costs £300 so playing bigger Games may be a problem - you would use your laptop for work and browsing the Internet mainly if you are only willing to spend £300.

If you want better specs for the same price, you may wish to consider a Desktop PC instead - they tend to be more powerful and cheaper.

  9. You will get nothing for £300, try a The money shop or cash shop, there similar to pawn brokers, i got a beautiful one for £150 and installed Xp pro on it.
