Need help with a thank you letter to a man who hooked me up with a job!?

Question

One of my father in-law's friends(whom I have never met) made a call on my behalf and got me a job. I love the job and feel fortunate to have it. I am struggling to come up with sentences to fill out the thank you letter. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Thank you so much for helping me to gain employment. I especially appreciate this since you don't know me .  Rest assured that I will do everything in my power to never make you regret your  act of trust.

Someday I hope to be able to pass this generosity on by repeating your kind act for someone else.
