I wash my face twice a day with St. Ives Apricot Scrub (Gentle) and have for about a week or so, but my face hasn't cleared up. I have really bad blackheads and some zits and can't figure out how to get rid of them. Any pointers? I need a cheap method that's easy to follow.

  1. Keep at it!! Your bound to not see much difference in a week, you have to be really patient!

But if you've been using it for about a month and it still shows no sign of improvement, see your doctor. They really help and give you really good stuff, like on a prescription. If what your doctor gives you still doesn't work, all you have to do is go back and they give you different stuff. I used Clearasil for about 2 months with little improvement, so i saw my doctor and she gave me this gel stuff, which i used for the same amount of time - no improvement. So she put me on these pills, which are really helping =]

  2. Go to WalMart.  Buy a little tube of Acne Treatment cream, about $2 or $3.  The active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, the same as the Clearasil brand, but less than half the price.  After you wash your face, use just the very tiniest bit on your fingertip, and rub it into the affected areas.  Do this a couple of times a day, and in two days you will see results.  It is amazing, cheap, and easy.  One caution: it will leave bleach marks on sheets and pillowcases, so wash it off before bedtime.

  3. i don't believe all those commercials... nobody is gonna make a cream or anything else just for u....Proactiv (that caused a lot of people more problems than they had before) ...now Skin ID! i use home-made products, it's natural and cheap! AND works great!

  4. Beware of using any acne products unless they have been prescribed or recommended by your doctor.  People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne.  Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face.  Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne.  If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little.  Often fewer products are better.  People often make their acne much worse by using too many products.  There really is no quick fix for acne.  Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne.  Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing.  Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean.  Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that.  Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue.   Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne.  Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep.  A healthy life style will make a difference.  Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

  5. for the blackheads...........put a little dab of white toothpaste on each one right before bed! for a couple of nights..it will dry it out.....it will seem really dry but just stick some lotion on it during the day

  6. well you should really try to do that new Skin ID thing but that is a little expensive so if you can'tdo that use Aveeno Foam Face Cleanser, it works quickly and makes such a great ddifference

  7. okay :)

    well first off, you shouldn't

scrub your face every day - that's

like a twice a week type of thing.

i have the same scrub, and i usually

wet my face and put it on, and leave

it on and have a really hot shower.

you should get a cleanser that's medicated,

    like this one from clearasil:

    http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j...

then use a moisturizer, even if it makes your

face look a little shiny. you can try a mattifying

one, like the tea tree oil one from the body shop.

    then get a spot treatment.

it might sting a little, but don't worry!

it'll go away after a while. i use a blow drier on

the cool setting to speed up the 'sinking into the

    pimple' part, haha c[;

do this twice a day and use your scrub twice a week.

give it a while to work! like maybe a week (:

  8. it depends on your skin and how it reacts to certain products :)

i would use the scrub once or twice a week since too much exfoliation might irritate the face~

neutrogena is a pretty good drugstore brand if you'd like to try something different but give it a couple weeks until you start buying other products.

i personally use clinique but it all depends on your skin~

  9. i like to use neutrogena oil-free acne wash at night and clean and clear morning burst during the day.

    it works really good.

and if i get stubborn zits i just put on neutrogena rapid clear spot treatment.

neutrogena works best for me :)

    also

its good to buy a face mask.

  10. ummm well i was watching this commercial on clean and clear blackhead control or something like that it works just like the wave so all you have to do is put the pad on and put water on it i think, and i dont know how much it costs but im pretty sure its not like $1249834706597.

also i watched a commercial for preactive uhhh i forgot what it was called....like the refining mask or aloe ....idk but yea~ hoped that helped

  11. I actually got rid of my acne for FREE. No lie, hun. I had blackheads and some ****** up big zits on my face that covered practically everything i called pretty. I advise you to go to your doctor [and if she or he is nice enough like mine] They'll set you up with a dermatologist and it won't cost anything [except for the prescriptions]. For my back acne and my blackheads on my face, the dermatologist gave me this cream called "Stieva-A cream with 0.05% Tretinoin cream USP" and for my fat *** zits I used this product called "Duonalc Solution with 2% of Clindamycin" and it all cleared OFF! my skin is really soft now =D you should really try it. Oh, but it's a prescription though. I had a bad reaction to another acne cream he gave me so i switched to these. If you have dry sensitive skin, then it should work for you. Just take a shower w/ Allen Burry's soap and no reactions will occur.

Results can also  happen if you change your diet.
