Need help with anime movie.

Question

I am trying to figure out the name of an anime movie that I watched back in like 2001. The basic premise was that there was a samurai who would go around and whoop a$$(lots of blood). There was also a little guy that would follow him around and bug him. I hope this is enough info...this has been killing me.

samurai jack

or

samurai champloo

those are the only ones i can think of

It's not really specific. But I'll try and guess it.

For me it could Peace maker. There were tons of blood there.

It would be much better if there was a photo.

Don't know if there's any little guy in it, but perhaps Ninja Scroll? It came out before then, but it's been re-aired lots of times.

Can you describe how they look at all? That might help.
