Is it supposed to hurt really bad when you are hitting it. I'm hitting it right in between my wrist and elbow. Is that right? I mean i can deal with the pain but is there a better way to bump the ball so that it won't hurt as much?

  1. Missing Information. length ways you are in the right area but i would be willing to guess that you do not have you arms rotated out enough. you should hit the ball between your wrists and elbows but also important to note it is not the part of your arm you seen if you just bring them straight in front of you. You should: have your shoulders feel like they are above your collar bone and rotate your arms out so that you hit with the inside / under part of the arm. This will create a natural V cavity to help assist with more consistent hits and is a softer part of your arm (not just a thin layer of skin over all bone) which will not be as painful. 2nd most important - bumping has 90% to do with your legs and very little with your arms. if you are getting low enough and not snapping your arms at it you will also get better hits with less contact. You should never be swinging your arms at the ball.

Lastly check the ball - Wilson makes a great double padded ball for rec play and the AVP beach ball is still relatively soft. Indoor balls tend to be harder.

  2. When you first start out playing volleyball, no matter what, it will hurt your arms and they will turn red, After playing for a while, you get used to it, it wont hurt and you won't even notice it. If you want try using volleyball that is less hard. Some are made espicially hard. While others are made to be soft. You have indoor volleyball and beach, volleyball's are different. So make sure you know which one it is. As for bumping, there isn't any better way, If you want, bend your legs more.

       Hope this helps

  3. yes, you are hitting it in the correct spot. you will get used to it as time goes on. it will hurt a bit while you're getting used to it, but in a couple of days, you should be fine

  4. yes, it is supposed to hurt when you hit it. when i started my arms would be red and sore and numb. they hurt so bad, but then i learned that they're supposed to. if you just keep hitting it right between your elbow and wrist (perfect position) then you will get used to it. after a while it wont hurt at all. if i haven't hit it in a while, then my arms will hurt for a little bit.

    hope i helped.

  5. Yes, that is the correct way. It might be that you're using harder volleyballs, or they're being spiked really hard at you. Don't ever pass the ball from your hands, because of the bones, the ball can bounce any which-way, and your forearms have a nice flat surface. As a libero, after a practice my arms will be bright red (fair skin), but you deal with it, and after a while you don't notice. It's kind of a harsh reality, but worth it!

  6. there is noway the only thing you can do is get used to it

  7. I just started volleyball earlier this week.  My friend told me that it would hurt at first until I got used to it.  If you keep practicing, it will stop hurting after a few days.  And you are hitting it in the right spot.

  8. nope you will get used to it the more you play and u wont even think of it
