Need help with buying computer.?

Hello everyone, I am trying to buy computer HP, but I am not sure about which one to choose. I don't know much about computers. I am going to be using it for University, for studying, and I don't care about playing games staff. Could somebody who knows this stuff help me please?

Get a computer with a higher clocked processor and more RAM. That is basically all you need.

If you are getting a laptop, at least 2.0GHz dual core processor and 3GB of RAM.

If you are getting a desktop, at least 2.8GHz dual core processor and 3GB of RAM
