  1. They cost anywhere from 20.50 to 42 in AUD.  They can get up to about one meter and will need a 30 to 40 gallon tank at least.  They can eat quite a bit but since they eat mostly crickets and worms it shouldn't cost you too much but remember they need veggies too.  I believe you can find them in australia but you will need to do some more research.  They need hides like a half log or tubberware turned upside down but cut into the side so they can get in and out.  For substrate I would use something that can hold water in such as moss or wood but be careful because some woods are dangerous to them.  They need humidity levels to be at about 75 to 80 and it has to be regulated.  Heat levels need to be about 80 and a basking of about 90.  Also remember they need a reptisun bulb as to imitate the uvb and uva rays so his/her bones grow strong.  I would aslo suggest dusting with calcium.  Aussie water dragons are much easier to take care of.  Here is a care sheet on each.  http://www.triciaswaterdragon.com/dragon...

  2. Just for starters if your living in Australia, which im assuming you are, you are restricted to keeping native species only. This rules out keeping the chinese water dragon.

    - Australian Eastern Water Dragon -

    [ 1 ] A hatchling on average is $40 - $60 AU

[ 2 ] Average 85cm total length. Minimum enclosure size should be 4ft long, 2ft wide and 3ft tall.

[ 3 ] Adults should be fed a few times a week. They can eat crickets, worms, cockroaches, meal worms, bananas, peaches, watermelons and other kinds of soft and sweet fruit. Variety is the key to a healthy animal. Adults can also be offered pinky mice as a treat. Insects should be dusted with a calcium and multivitamin supplement.

[ 4 ] Yes, you will need a reptile license though.

[ 5 ] If kept indoors they will need UVA - UVB lighting, along with the correct temperatures and humidity. They need access to a large water bowl - big enough to fully submerge in, just make sure they can get in and out easily. The water bowl should be cleaned daily. Branches and sturdy logs should be provided to climb and hide behind, they are rather shy creatures.

    Hope this helps!
