I really wanna get into cake designing in the future, does anyone here have any suggestions as to which culinary school i should go to? I have my heart set at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, but I don't know if that would be the best school for me to go to if I eventually wanna be a cake designer. Please HELP!

  1. The best school is a working bakery.

Apply to every bakery in town, supermarkets count.

You will probably be washing up, but you will be able to see the reality of a working bakery.

The hours are weird, you need to be strong as an ox to lift the bowl off the mixer, and the stench is overpowering.

So do your homework in the field for a year or two after high school and then decide if you still want a life in food service.  Way too many go to school and come out with huge debt and no love for the business.

It is always better to go to college AFTER you turn 21!

You will have a better idea what you want to do with your life and hopefully you will have some money stashed away to help pay for it.

Another thing the guidance councilor won't tell you, if you go to school and have no real working experience you will have a really hard time landing a job that pays well enough to eat and pay off your loans!

    Good Luck!!
