Now write a script for the following scenario and include 3 components 1) brief introduction about who we are and why we are calling 2) ask questions to make sure the prospect company is qualified 3) close with setting up an appointment. Any details not listed, use your imagination.

Company description: Company sells treated wood products that are used in marine related construction projects.

Target Market: Architects who are responsible for specifying the building materials used.

Qualifiers: Set appointments up only with Architectural firms who routinely work on marine projects and can specifically name a project coming up.

Times for Appointment: Do not set any appointments on either Monday or Friday.

Sales Force: Company has 3 sales reps.

  1. You really need to write this because it needs to sound natural and you need to feel comfortable saying it.

    Cold calling is very difficult. You need to find out about your product and the people that will be using it.

    Start with Hi, this is _____, I am with __________. May I speak  to the person in your company responsible for purchasing materials please.

    Chances are, you will not get much beyond this point but at least try to get the name of the purchasing person, the best time to call back.

    If you do get the purchasing agent on the phone be sure to ask their name and call them Mr. or Mrs. ________ never use their first name. Tell them what you have to sell ask your questions and set the appointments.

    Now you do some homework on the product and the consumer, write up something, memorize it and make the calls.
