Need help with converting inches to square feet?

Alright im doing a project and it requires me to paint my walls, install carpet for my floor and cover my windows with blinds. I have a 1,000 dollar budget and need to help with the measurments. This is not real I have to pretent im redecorating my room. Yet I still have to do all the real measurments and stuff. How do you convert inches to square feet?

144 square inches equal 1 square foot . 9 square feet equals 1 square yard. So 9 times 144 equals ?

measure the walls, let's say one wall is 10 feet by 6 feet

multiply each measurement by 12 inches

10 x 12 = 120 inches

6 ft x 12 in = 72 inches

multiply both together 120 x 72 = 8640 inch squared

Do each wall like this and add up all of the walls at the end to get total square inches.

there's 144 square inches to 1 square foot. so whatever length you've got in feet multiply by 12 and that wiil give you the length in inches, and the length in inches is devided by 12 to give you the length in feet

1. Get square inches by multiplying length by breadth

2. Divide the answer by 144 to obtain sq feet.

ie 12"x12" = 144sq. inches

    144/144 = 1 sq. foot

You can't. The inch is a measure of length; the square foot is a measure of area.

To convert SQUARE inches to square feet, divide the number of square inches by 144. (Since there are 12 inches in a foot, there are 12 x 12 = 144 square inches in a square foot.)

How about square inches to square feet?  Divide by 144.

A better choice is to make a small table of inches and decimal feet so that you can look and see that 3 inches is 0.25 feet, etc.  Then you can take your measurements with a tape, reading it as 12 feet 4 inches for example and converting it to 12.33 feet.  Then you can multiply your feet measurements to get square feet.
