  1. Demodectic mange is not contagious. I would take her to the vet and have them do skin scrapping. It really sound like demodectic please get it checked

  2. sounds like a flea infestations to me , she seems like she is in a lot of pain from what you are saying...i'm not a fan of having animals put down...but if flea treatment hurts her  and the vets don't know whats wrong it seems cruel to put her through that with no help available  x

  3. In the mean time (while trying to figure out what is wrong with her) try applying a product called 'Calming Gel' http://www.paw4pets.com

It will calm and soothe the irritation and is perfectly safe to use in almost any situation.

Have you consulted a veterinary dermatologist? If you live in Australia, email me and I can give you the contact details of some. They have done extra degrees in skin (dermatology) and may be able to shed some light on the situation when a normal vet cannot.

  4. Quite honestly if your vet is confused then I doubt we're going to be able to better that here.

It sounds as if your dog is in a bad condition and if it were mine I would seek out another vet that wasn't confused and had greater expertise in skin disorders.

I would do it now via contacting somewhere like the Royal Veterinary College and asking them for a contact who is skilled in making a differential diagnosis

Skin problems are notoriously difficult to diagnose in humans let alone animals so there's no point in second guessing on here. You need professional, qualified help.
