Need help with ferret?

my parents wont let me get becuase they are worried about the smell of the ferret itself. and the smell of its droppings along with the smell of th urine any ideas on how to reducethe smell on any of these things

Descenting has nothing to do with reducing a ferrets odor, spaying and neutering is what reduces odor; this reduces hormones which inturn reduces the ferrets odor.   Also, most all pet store ferrets and ferrets at ferret shelters have already been spayed/neutered and descented.  The secret to keeping a ferret smelling good is by keeping the ferrets bedding washed 'at least' once a week, clean the cage weekly, clean litter boxes twice daily and keeping their ears cleaned as needed.  A ferret should never be bathed more than 3 or 4 times a year.  Over bathing a ferret makes it smell worse as it looses precious oils in its fur that are essential.  When you wash those out the ferrets body goes into overtime to try and replace those lost oils.  I've had ferrets for almost 15 years now with as many as 15 at one time. I 'never' bath my ferrets unless they have gotten into something.

Now for the important stuff....Ferrets are very high maintenance pets.  The cheapest part of having a ferret is buying one and getting it's accessories.   Once ferrets hit 3 or 4 years old they most all come down with some type of illness that require medical attention and most of the time monthly medications are needed.  Right now I spend $200.00 a month on ferret medications alone!!!!!

well if the ferret has been desented... the smell is not that bad.. but if you keep it in the house...you would of course bath it not everyday but when you think it needs it.. and they are so easy to train to a litter box and ect.. i think you should do some research on them and print it out let your mom and dad read it.. but make sure its all good information... some ppl will tell you they are mean... not always the case... they will be how you make them be.... so treat it good and it should be sweet...

My cusin had a ferrett. but she died but uhmm ferrets do smell sometimes. but theres stuff at petco that help reduce the smell and everything. hope you get urself a ferret :)
