Need help with fiction? 10 points to best answer?

I need to make up a story of like 1 - 2 paragraphs that contains titles of 10 famous novels. It can be about anything - it just has to use the title of the book as in a sentence like "Oh, that was a Catch-22"

You have to make sense of the sentence too.

I'm not a very good writer. I need help with this assignment, any contributions will be helpful.

How about something like...

Jimmy was walking ON THE ROAD (Kerouac) when he noticed his BELOVED (Morisson) friend, EMMA (Austen), sitting by the lake.  He called out to her, and she flashed her WHITE TEETH (Smith) in a big smile as she ran to join him.  "Where are you going?" Emma asked.

"I was just on my way TO THE LIGHTHOUSE (Woolf)," Jimmy answered.
